Static Ad Examples (2026): 7 formats, 22 Meta ads from 17 brands

By Cecelia Chen · Published October 2026

ViralMojo's 2026 static ad dataset sorts 22 single-image Meta ads from 17 brands into 7 formats, from offer-first discount images to comparison charts and lifestyle photos; 20 of the 22 were still active on October 18, 2026, a median of 165 days after they started. In the 1,000-ad candidate pool they came from (each brand's top five ads by impressions in a mid-August 2026 snapshot), 544 ads were static images and 456 were videos, and the static ads had been running a median of 49 days at the snapshot against 44 for the videos. Source: Meta Ad Library public data, as of Oct 18, 2026.

Ad Library facts on this page verified October 18, 2026.

The numbers

Key findings

What the 22 examples and the 1,000-ad candidate pool show, as of October 18, 2026:

  • 22 static ads, 20 still active. The examples come from 17 brands in 10 categories. The 20 active ads had been running a median of 165 days on October 18, 2026, and none less than 116 days; Outdoor Voices' fleece ad has run since September 28, 2023 (1,116 days).
  • Static images were the larger share of the pool. Of 1,000 ads in the mid-August 2026 snapshot (200 brands, each brand's top five by impressions), 544 were static images and 456 were videos.
  • Static ads had been running slightly longer. At the snapshot, the static ads had been running a median of 49 days and the videos 44 days; 29% of static ads and 23% of videos had passed 90 days.
  • The split depends on the category. Apparel ads in the pool were 75% static (64 of 85) and Health & Telehealth ads 85% static (17 of 20); Beauty & Skincare (47%) and Supplements & Wellness (48%) were close to even.
  • Most of the August candidates were gone by October. Of the 48 static candidates we checked first, 28 were no longer in the Ad Library on October 18, 2026. The Library does not say why an ad stops.
  • Text and offers sit on the image itself. 20 of the 22 examples add a headline or other text to the image (Caraway's pan shot and OLIPOP's illustrated can carry only the product's own label), and 10 put an offer on the image itself: 8 show a price, discount, code or "value" figure, Coterie names a free bonus pack and Owlet mentions a welcome offer.
  • Vertical is the most common shape. 13 of the 22 images are served in the Library as 9:16 verticals, 5 are square, 2 are 4:5, and one each is 3:4 and 2:3.
Definition

What is a static ad?

A static ad is a paid social ad built from one still image plus text: on Meta, the primary text above the image, the headline and link under it, and a call-to-action button. There is no video, animation or carousel. Every example on this page is a single image; we excluded carousels and catalog (dynamic product) ads, where Meta fills the image and headline from a product feed.

On Meta, the same static image can run across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Threads and the Audience Network; the Ad Library lists the platforms for each ad, and we copy them onto each card.

The taxonomy

The 7 static ad formats at a glance

The 7 formats below cover every ad in this dataset. Each ad sits in one format, chosen by what you can see on the image; when an ad fits two, the priority rule in How we built this dataset decides.

#FormatWhat it looks likeExamples on this pageFits best when
1Offer-firstThe offer (a discount, price, code or something free) is the biggest thing on the imageZenni Optical, Athletic Brewing, Divi (AirDrop sale), Coterie, Dr. Anna CabecaThe offer is the reason to click and is easy to state in a few words
2Problem headlineOne big line names a problem or objection; the product sits beside itCrown Affair, Divi (scalp serum), BanzaBuyers have a known hesitation you can answer in one line
3Launch or restockAn announcement line (new, back in stock, it's here) over the productTherabody (TheraFace Mask Glo, Italy), K18 (back in stock), Owlet (Dream Duo)You have news: a new product, a new look or a restock
4Proof on the imageAwards, a star rating or a customer quote placed on the creative itselfAthletic Brewing (award medallions), Pet Honesty, Helix SleepThird-party proof exists and fits in a badge or a short quote
5Chart or diagramA comparison chart, size-vs-size layout, icon feature list or hand-drawn diagramCasper, K18 (double the size), Therabody (JetBoots PRO Plus), LoveveryThe product needs one comparison or a few features to make sense
6Lifestyle photo, one lineA photo of the product in use with a single short line of textOutdoor Voices, Owlet (welcome offer)The product is easy to recognise and the photo carries the mood
7PackshotThe product is the picture, with little or no added textCaraway, OLIPOPThe product looks good on its own

How to read the example cards

Each card shows the ad's image as it appears in Meta's Ad Library (cropped to the image itself), the Page that runs it, the footer domain and headline under the image, and a link to the ad in the Ad Library. "On the image" quotes the largest text on the creative, as it appears; "Layout" describes what is where; "Copy" quotes the primary text (or its opening) above the image; "Run" gives the start date and the number of days to October 18, 2026, or the end date for the two ads that had ended by then; "Flag" marks a claim in the ad that we describe but do not repeat, and says why. Where the Library says an ad "has multiple versions", the card shows the version the Library displays first. Days running shows the brand is still paying to run the ad. It is not a measure of results: the Ad Library does not show spend, conversions or return on ad spend.

Format 1 of 7

1. Offer-first static ads: examples

An offer-first static ad makes the offer the biggest element on the image, so the reason to click is readable before anything else; this page has 5 examples, three built on a discount or price (one dressed as a phone notification) and two on something free.

How to build an offer-first static ad

  1. 1.Make the offer the largest thing on the image and keep the rest to one supporting line.
  2. 2.Put the conditions (minimum order, which products, online only) on the image in small type as well as in the copy.
  3. 3.If there is a code, set it in its own high-contrast pill so it can be read at thumbnail size.
  4. 4.If the offer is something free, show what the buyer gets (the bonus pack, the course pages) and, where it is true, its value.
Format 2 of 7

2. Problem headline static ads: examples

A problem-headline static ad leads with one large line that names a problem or an objection, and puts the product next to it as the answer; this page has 3 examples, two of which add an offer or retailer below the line.

How to write a problem-headline static ad

  1. 1.Write the headline as the buyer's own hesitation or problem, in their words.
  2. 2.Answer it in the same image: a short reply line, the product, or both.
  3. 3.Keep any offer or retailer line visually smaller than the headline so the problem is read first.
Format 3 of 7

3. Launch or restock static ads: examples

A launch or restock static ad is an announcement: a short line such as "new", "back in stock" or "it's here" over the product; this page has 3 examples, covering a new product, a restock and a new system.

How to announce a launch or restock in a static ad

  1. 1.Lead with the news word (new, back, here) and the product name.
  2. 2.Show the product large, in use or in context.
  3. 3.Add one concrete detail that makes the news useful: the price, the new size or what is included.

4. Proof on the image static ads: examples

A proof-on-the-image static ad places third-party proof (award medals, a star-rated customer quote or an award line with a retail partner) on the creative itself; this page has 3 examples.

How to build a chart or diagram static ad

  1. 1.Pick one comparison or one set of three features.
  2. 2.Label each side or icon in plain words a buyer would use.
  3. 3.Let the layout do the arguing; keep the headline to the one point the chart proves.
Format 6 of 7

6. Lifestyle photo, one line static ads: examples

A lifestyle static ad with one line shows the product in use in a real-looking scene and adds a single short line of text, such as the category name or a sign-up line; this page has 2 examples.

Static vs video ads: which performs better?

The Ad Library cannot answer this, because it shows no spend, clicks or sales, so neither can this page. What the public data does show is how often brands choose each format and how long the ads stay live. In the mid-August 2026 candidate pool, 544 of 1,000 top-five ads (54%) were static images and 456 (46%) were videos. Static ads had been running a median of 49 days at the snapshot and videos 44 days; 29% of static ads and 23% of videos had passed 90 days. For the video side, our UGC ad examples study sorts 35 live UGC video ads from 31 brands into 16 formats.

Three categories lean static (Apparel 75%, Health & Telehealth 85%, and all 10 Eyewear ads), while Beauty & Skincare, Supplements & Wellness, Food & Snacks and Oral & Personal Care sit near or below half. Category counts reflect which brands are in the pool (five ads per brand), so small categories can swing on one or two brands.

Run time

How long do static ads run on Meta?

In the mid-August 2026 candidate pool, the 544 static ads had been running a median of 49 days on the snapshot day (the middle half between 24 and 100 days); 29% had passed 90 days, 6.6% had passed 180 days and 9 had passed a year, six of them from just two brands (Youth To The People and Outdoor Voices). These are ads that were still live on the snapshot day, so ads that stopped early are not counted.

On this page, the 20 ads still active on October 18, 2026 had been running between 116 and 1,116 days, with a median of 165. A long run shows that the brand keeps paying for the ad; the Ad Library does not show whether it is profitable or why it is kept or stopped.

Common elements

What makes a good static ad?

The Ad Library shows no results, so this section lists what the 22 examples have in common:

  • Text on the image. 20 of 22 add a headline or other text to the creative itself; the other two let the product's own label speak.
  • The offer on the image. 8 of 22 show a price, discount, code or "value" figure on the image (Zenni, Athletic Brewing, both Divi ads, both K18 ads, Therabody's mask, Dr. Anna Cabeca), and 2 more name a free bonus or welcome offer (Coterie, Owlet).
  • The product in frame. All 22 show the product, or everything included in the offer, in the image.
  • Someone else's proof. 6 of 22 show an award, a star-rated customer quote, a Consumer Reports badge or a retailer's name (Sephora, Kroger, a store partner).
  • A vertical canvas. 13 of 22 are served as 9:16 verticals.

How we built this dataset

We started from a candidate pool of 1,000 Meta ads from 200 mostly US direct-to-consumer brands (brand list compiled from public sources): each brand's top five ads ranked by impressions in Meta's Ad Library, in a snapshot taken between August 13 and August 19, 2026 (mid-August 2026), and labelled static or video. We shortlisted 48 static candidates and checked each in the Ad Library on October 18, 2026: 17 were found, 28 were no longer in the Library, 2 opened a different Library ID and 1 had been removed for breaking Meta's advertising standards. We filled the list from the same pool (static, running at least 45 days at the snapshot, at most two ads per brand) to 30 candidates. We then opened every candidate again on October 18, 2026 to capture its image, footer and status, and dropped 8 that turned out to be catalog (dynamic product) ads, whose footer headline is a catalog product title (often with a size or colour) under a plain product shot or catalog template. 22 remain. Formats are our reading of what is on each image, and each ad sits in one format only. The largest line of text added to the image decides, tested in this order: Launch or restock (an announcement such as new, back in stock or it's here), Offer-first (a discount, price, code or a named free item), Proof on the image (an award, a rating or a customer quote), Problem headline (a problem or objection). If that line is only the product or programme name, the next-largest line or badge decides. Ads whose text fits none of these go by the picture: Chart or diagram for a comparison, diagram or feature list; Lifestyle photo, one line for the product in a scene; Packshot for the product alone.

Limits worth knowing

  • Active is not profitable. An ad that has run for a long time shows the brand is still paying for it; the Ad Library does not show spend, conversions or return on ad spend, and neither do we.
  • Top five by impressions is not a results ranking. The pool takes each brand's first five ads in the Ad Library's impressions order. That order is not sales or return on ad spend, and it cannot be checked from outside Meta.
  • Snapshot dates differ by brand. Pool figures (day counts, static share) are as of each brand's snapshot day: August 13 for 128 brands, August 14 for 34 and August 19 for 38.
  • Survivors only. The pool holds ads that were live on the snapshot day, and 28 of the 48 static candidates we checked first had left the Library by October 18, 2026.
  • The brand is not always the Page. 5 of the 22 ads run from a Page whose name differs from the brand (K18 Hair for K18, Athletic Brewing Company for Athletic Brewing, Coterie Baby for Coterie); the cards and the table give both.
  • Some facts come from Page result lists. In the first check, 10 of the 22 ads were read from the brand's Page result list rather than their own Link-to-ad dialog. On the second pass all were reopened; 21 opened in their own dialog, and for Athletic Brewing 2082989259304158 the dialog again showed a sibling ad (same copy, one day older), so that ad's facts come from the Page list on the same load.
  • Two ended ads are kept. OLIPOP (June 2 to September 2, 2026) and Banza (June 16 to July 24, 2026) had ended by October 18, 2026. We keep them as examples, mark them Ended and give no day count.
  • One date conflict. The pool lists the Banza ad as live on its brand's snapshot day (August 13, 2026), but the Ad Library shows it stopped on July 24, 2026. We don't know why the two disagree; a second Banza ad from the pool shows the same June 16 to July 24 window. We found no active problem-headline ad in the pool to replace it, so it stays, marked Ended.
  • One version per ad. Where the Library says an ad has multiple versions, we show the version it displays first.
  • Static or video only. The pool labels ads as static or video; how it classed carousels and multi-asset ads is not known.

FAQ

Common questions.

Static ad examples are live single-image ads you can study, here pulled from Meta's public Ad Library. This page has 22 from 17 brands, sorted into 7 formats (offer-first, problem headline, launch or restock, proof on the image, chart or diagram, lifestyle photo with one line, and packshot); 20 were still active on October 18, 2026. They are grouped by what is on the image; the Ad Library shows no results to rank them by.

On Meta, yes. Meta calls a single-image ad an image ad, and marketers call the same thing a static ad. Every example on this page is one image; carousels (several images you swipe through) and catalog ads that fill the image from a product feed are left out.

Public data can't tell you, because the Ad Library shows no spend or results. In our mid-August 2026 pool of each brand's top five ads by impressions, 544 of 1,000 were static and 456 were video, and static ads had been running a median of 49 days against 44 for videos; Apparel (75% static) and Health & Telehealth (85%) leaned static, while Beauty & Skincare was 47% static.

In the mid-August 2026 pool, static ads had been running a median of 49 days on the snapshot day, 29% had passed 90 days and 9 had passed a year. The 20 active ads on this page had been running 116 to 1,116 days on October 18, 2026 (median 165). A long run means the brand keeps paying for the ad; it says nothing about profit.

Meta recommends 1080×1080 pixels for square (1:1) images, 1080×1350 for 4:5 portrait images and 1080×1920 for 9:16 placements such as Stories and Reels. Of the 22 images on this page, 13 are served in the Ad Library as 9:16 verticals, 5 are square, 2 are 4:5, and one each is 3:4 and 2:3. Many ads have several versions for different placements, and the Library shows one of them.

They are clear, still-running examples of 7 formats, not a ranking by results. The Ad Library does not show spend, clicks or sales, so no public list can rank static ads by return on ad spend; we picked ads that the brand had kept live and that show one format clearly.

Open Meta's Ad Library, choose "All ads", search the brand's Page name, then filter Media type to Images; each ad shows its start date, platforms and a Library ID you can link to. ViralMojo does the same check across your competitors in one place.

See what’s running in your category.

Every link in the dataset above opens the ad itself in Meta's Ad Library: check the start date and the image, and you'll see what we saw. That receipts-first approach is behind every teardown on our teardowns hub. If you'd rather have it done for your own brand, ViralMojo runs the same check on your competitors, decodes what's live, and writes the hooks in your customers' own words. It's a paid workspace, no free tier.
