UGC Ads Examples (2026): 16 formats, 35 live Meta ads from 31 brands

By Cecelia Chen · Published October 2026

ViralMojo's 2026 UGC ad dataset sorts the user-generated-content ads running on Meta into 16 repeatable formats, from comment replies and street interviews to green-screen explainers and hauls. It documents 35 UGC-style ads from 31 brands that were all still active in Meta's Ad Library on October 13, 2026, with each ad's start date, the brand's total active ad count, and how many of the brand's first 20 active videos are UGC-style. Every example links to Meta Ad Library public data, as of Oct 13, 2026, so you can open the ad yourself.

Ad Library facts on this page verified October 13, 2026.

The 16 UGC ad formats at a glance

The 16 formats below cover every UGC-style video ad in this dataset. Most real ads combine two or three of them, so each example later on carries an "Also" line.

How to read the example cards

Each card shows the ad's opening frame as it appears in the Ad Library, and gives the brand, its category, a link to the ad in Meta's Ad Library, the ad's start date and how many days it has run as of October 13, 2026, and brand-level context: the brand's active ad count, its active video count, and how many of its first 20 active videos (in the Ad Library's default order) are UGC-style. Brand-level counts cover the brand's own Page only; ads that a creator runs from their own Page in partnership with the brand are noted on the card. "Hook" is the on-screen text in the first three seconds, quoted as it appears; where an ad has no caption, we describe the opening picture instead. "Structure" is the beat order we saw by sampling 10 or more frames from each video; we watched the picture only and did not listen to the audio, so nothing here paraphrases spoken lines we did not see as captions. Days running shows the brand is still paying to run the ad. It is not a measure of results: the Ad Library does not show spend, conversions or return on ad spend.

Format 1 of 16

1. Testimonial UGC ads: examples

A testimonial UGC ad is one person on a phone camera telling their own story with the product, usually starting from the frustration and ending with the product in hand; this page has 2 examples. Both open on something other than a plain talking head: a meme caption in one, a credential line and a texture shot in the other.

Why
The first nine seconds borrow a meme format people already scroll past on TikTok, so the ad reads as content before it reads as an ad; the product is held back until about 40 seconds, after the story has done its work.

How to shoot a testimonial UGC ad

  1. 1.Open on a pattern people already recognize (a meme caption, a credential line) instead of "Hi, I'm…".
  2. 2.Show the problem state on camera or as an inset photo within the first 15 seconds.
  3. 3.Use the creator's own body or space as the proof surface (skin, teeth, tattoo), and bring the product in only after the story.
Format 2 of 16

2. Unboxing UGC ads: examples

An unboxing UGC ad opens with packaging on camera and reveals the product detail by detail, leaving the "is it worth it" judgment to the close-ups; this page has 2 examples, both from accessories brands outside beauty and supplements.

Why
The unboxing sets a baseline ("this is new") so the worn pair has something to be compared against; the ad sells durability, which an unboxing alone can't show.

Why
The props and plaid set a Halloween, dark-academia mood that matches the buyer, and the hands-only framing keeps attention on the print; shipping and stock captions answer the gifting questions before the click.

3. Problem-solution UGC ads: examples

A problem-solution UGC ad spends most of its runtime on the problem and the failed fixes, then introduces the product as the answer; this page has 2 examples. Both spend at least the first third of the ad on the problem: Uproot Clean holds the product back until about 3.5 minutes into a 4.5-minute ad, and Flakes until about 36 seconds into 1 minute 41.

Why
The first line tells the viewer they've been blaming the wrong thing, which keeps people who've already switched detergents watching; the 4.5-minute runtime is spent moving the problem from the detergent to the machine before the product shows up.

"Four signs that mean fungus is taking over your scalp." (red caption over a scalp close-up) Reframe open
Structure
extreme close-up of a flaky scalp under the caption (0–2s) → phone-shot scratching scenes in a closet and a shower (3–5s) → long-haired man talking to camera (8s) → a shelf of drugstore dandruff shampoos, then a tub of oil (9–13s) → more scratching and older men at bathroom mirrors (16–33s) → Flakes bottles appear (~36s) → a man in a white coat holds the bottle (38–42s) → bottles in hand, sniffing the cap, lather in the shower (45–95s) → two bottles on a bathroom counter (100s)
Why
The first caption renames the problem, which gives anyone who has already tried the drugstore shelf a reason those bottles didn't work; the scratching scenes and the shelf of other shampoos all come before the product shows up.

4. Skit UGC ads: examples

A skit UGC ad is an acted, captioned bit, usually framed as "POV" or "me when…", where the creator plays a character and the product (or the app) is the punchline or the fix; this page has 2 examples. Both run from the creator's own page in partnership with the brand.

Starting from the most common objection to the category lets every later reaction count as a conversion on camera; several different tasters make it read as a pattern, not one fan.

How to shoot a reaction UGC ad

  1. 1.Open on either the objection ("X is disgusting") or the reaction face, not the product name.

  1. 1.Put a real buyer objection (price, "do I need this") on screen as a comment sticker at second 0.
  2. 2.Answer with something physical: open the box, plug it in, show what's included.
  3. 3.End where a normal post would end, not on a hard-sell card.

15. Street interview UGC ads: examples

A street interview UGC ad has a host with a mic stop strangers in public, ask a question and hand them the product to try on camera; this page has 2 examples, one in protein powder and one in dairy. In both, the product is in the host's hand from the first frame.

Combinations

How UGC formats stack in real ads

Of the 35 ads on this page, 33 combine at least two of the 16 formats and most combine three; only Coffee Meets Bagel's skit and Lensmart's try-on haul run as a single format. The most common add-on is product demo, listed as a secondary format on 15 of the 35 ads, because almost every story ends with the product in hand. Testimonial is the second most common add-on (on 8 ads), usually as a first-person caption track over another format. Some pairings recur: comment reply with unboxing (RYZE), before/after with comparison (Norse Organics, where two day-counted diaries are set against each other), and green-screen with talking-head explainer (Memoro, Rize). When you brief a creator, it helps to name the primary format, which decides the opening and the structure, and then the one or two secondary formats you expect to see inside it.

Watch for this

AI-made UGC ads already in the feed

Some ads that look like UGC in the Ad Library appear to be made, wholly or partly, with AI video tools, and we saw them inside the same brands we sampled for this page. We can only judge from the picture, so each case below is an observation, not a confirmed finding.

  • RYZE Superfoods: of the first 20 active videos on RYZE's page, only 4 are real-person UGC (comment-reply creators and partnership talking heads). Most of the rest are animated short skits, such as a cartoon mushroom and Pixar-style couples, that appear to be AI-rendered.
  • ReciMe: one of the first 20 active videos opens on a food shot carrying a Veo watermark, the mark of Google's AI video model.
  • Dogshood: a long problem-solution ad we first picked for this page (1080751074410752) opens on an elderly woman with a walker towing a Labrador on a blue sled, captioned "I'm a 62 year old dog walker...", and much of the footage that follows appears AI-generated. We dropped it from the examples for that reason. Across Dogshood's first 20 active videos (820 active ads, 620 active videos on its Page), several long ads open on surreal hook shots like this before cutting to a talking narrator.
  • Men's Skin Insider: an ad running since late September 2026 (1439907131353514) opens on a "Day 1 vs Week 3" split face, then a day-by-day diary of a man applying the product. It appears to be AI-generated: faces, lighting and framing are very uniform across many lookalike men on the brand's page (35 active ads, 23 active videos, all 20 sampled in a UGC style). We left it out of the examples above for that reason.
  • Frøya Organics, Thesis and Flakes: each brand's first 20 active videos include AI or 3D-rendered material (facial-anatomy animations, an AI face edited into a podcast clip, a 3D-animated character and rendered scalp close-ups) alongside creator footage.

What this means for reading any UGC swipe file in 2026: "phone-shot, person talking to camera" is no longer proof that a real customer or creator made the ad. We can't tell from frames alone, and the Ad Library does not label it consistently.

Fine print

How we built this dataset

We built this dataset by searching Meta's public Ad Library for each of the 16 formats, then judging format from the picture by sampling multiple frames per video; we did not listen to audio. We first collected candidates by format, then kept examples that showed the format clearly and were still active, with no minimum run time. On October 13, 2026 we reopened all 35 ads, confirmed each was still active, and sampled 10 or more frames per video to record the opening, the beat order, when the product first appears and the closing shot. Brand-level figures (active ads, active videos, UGC-style share) come from each brand's own Page on October 13, 2026, for 33 brands: the 31 on this page plus Dogshood and Men's Skin Insider, both discussed in the AI section; the UGC share is our judgment of the first 20 active videos in the Ad Library's default order, or all of them when a brand had fewer than 20. "UGC-style" means shot to look like phone-made creator or customer content; it includes brand-made footage shot that way (Cooper's Strip Club) and cannot exclude AI-generated footage (see above).

Limits worth knowing

  • Selection bias. We looked for brands that run UGC, mostly direct-to-consumer brands advertising in the US, so the brand-level UGC shares (24 of the 28 brands with 10 or more videos sampled had at least three quarters of them UGC-style) describe these brands, not Meta advertisers overall.
  • Active is not profitable. An ad that has run for a long time shows the brand is still paying for it; the Ad Library does not show spend, conversions or return on ad spend, and neither do we.
  • Counts move daily. Active ad and video counts are rounded as the Ad Library shows them and change from day to day.
  • Partnership ads split across Pages. Ads run from a creator's Page are not in the brand Page's counts.
  • Picture only. Hooks are on-screen captions; we did not transcribe spoken audio.

FAQ

Common questions.

In ViralMojo's 2026 UGC ad dataset, the clearest examples by format are RYZE Superfoods for comment replies, Earth Fed Muscle for street interviews, Cloaked for green-screen, Norse Organics for founder POV, and Licorice.com for reaction ads; all 35 examples on this page were still running on Meta on October 13, 2026. "Best" here means the clearest instance of each format that a brand is still paying to run, not the best-performing: the Ad Library does not show spend or results, so no public dataset can rank UGC ads by return on ad spend.

UGC style ads are paid ads shot to look like content a customer or creator posted themselves: phone camera, real setting, a person talking or using the product, on-screen captions. In this dataset they fall into 16 repeatable formats, from testimonials and unboxings to comment replies and street interviews. Some are made by creators in paid partnerships, some by the brand's own team (Cooper's Strip Club's workshop footage), and some appear to be AI-generated, which is why we call them UGC-style rather than UGC.

This page's data shows what brands are running, not which length performs best. Across the 35 examples, the median length is 53 seconds: 3 run 20 seconds or less, 8 run 21–30 seconds, 10 run 31–60 seconds, 12 run 1–2 minutes, and 2 run longer than 3 minutes (Memoro, and Uproot Clean, the longest at 4 minutes 26 seconds). Before/after and product demo ads cluster under 40 seconds; the two longest are a problem-solution ad (Uproot Clean) and a comment reply (Memoro).

This page's data can't answer the policy question; check Meta's own advertising standards for current rules on AI-generated content. What the data shows is that ads that appear to be AI-generated are running today alongside creator UGC: RYZE Superfoods' first 20 active videos are mostly animated skits that appear AI-rendered, ReciMe runs a food shot carrying a Veo watermark, and Dogshood and Men's Skin Insider run UGC-style ads that appear AI-generated. We can only judge from the picture.

This page's data can't tell you whether UGC performs better than other creative, because the Ad Library shows no spend or results. It does show that brands are still investing in it: of the 28 brands where we sampled 10 or more active videos, 24 had at least three quarters of them in a UGC style, and 3 of the examples on this page have run for more than 900 days. That sample is biased toward brands we found because they run UGC.

See what’s running in your category.

Every link in the dataset above is the receipt: open the ad, check the start date, and you'll see what we saw. That receipts-first approach is behind every teardown on our teardowns hub. If you'd rather have it done for your own brand, ViralMojo runs the same check on your competitors, decodes what's live, and writes the hooks in your customers' own words. Its competitor ad grid can be filtered by creative format, including UGC talking heads, testimonials, unboxing reviews and founder stories, so you can pull every UGC ad a competitor is running in one view. It's a paid workspace, no free tier.
