The creative reproduces real iOS Notes UI, pixel for pixel — the "< All iCloud" back link, the share-box icon, the "..." more-options icon. None of it does anything; it exists purely so the first half-second reads as a genuine screenshot, not a sponsored unit.
The items are nicknames, not a product grid. "cloud paint" and "boy brow" are how a customer actually talks about these products, and the list ends on "do NOT go overboard... or... go overboard??? 😗" — a joke a brand's copy deck would never write for itself, which is exactly why it reads as someone else's.
Not one ad — a small portfolio run at once behind a single 30%-off line. Six things this campaign does simultaneously.
Bare offer lineAd copy · Qualify
Almost every one of the ~21 ad units in this campaign shares the identical primary text — no variation, no urgency word beyond "biggest sale of the season." The offer itself never changes; only the creative wrapped around it does.
“Our biggest sale of the season! Save up to 30% on eligible purchases.”
Steal itLock [one offer line] across every creative variant so you're testing the wrapper, not the deal — a moving offer and a moving format at the same time makes it impossible to tell which one worked.
Notes App disguiseCreative · Disguise
The exact same offer line sits above a creative that reproduces the iOS Notes app's chrome in full — back button, share icon, menu — so the ad reads as a leaked personal screenshot before the eye ever reaches the sale terms.
“glossier black friday (!!!)”
Steal itBorrow the exact UI chrome of [an app your audience uses daily] — the disguise only works if it's pixel-accurate, not a vague approximation.
Product nicknames, not product namesCreative · Voice
Every checklist item uses the pet name customers actually call these products, not their full retail titles, and the list closes on a joke aimed at the reader's own self-control rather than at closing the sale.
“do NOT go overboard... or... go overboard??? 😗”
Steal itWrite the list in [the nicknames your actual customers use], and let the closing line be a joke about the reader, not a pitch about the product.
Staggered gift thresholdsAd copy · Sequence
Two different sub-flights swap in two different free gifts at the same £100+ spend threshold on different days inside the sale window — not one static gift-with-purchase promise for the whole flight.
“Biggest sale of the season! Save up to 30% on eligible purchases, get a free Ultralip at £100+.”
“Biggest sale of the season! Save up to 30% on eligible purchases, get a free Cloud Paint at £100+.”
Steal itRotate [which specific gift unlocks at your spend threshold] across the sale window instead of promising one fixed gift for the whole flight — it gives repeat viewers a reason to look twice.
Real creators, real voice, same saleAd copy · Corroborate
Three individual creators ran their own branded-content ads pointing at the identical sale at the same time as the brand's own creative, each phrased in unmistakably first person and each properly tagged as a partnership.
“everything i would stock up on during the @glossier sale ⭐️ #glossierpartner #glossier #favorites”
“Your Rich Auntie is stocking UP during @glossier's Black Friday sale - in-store and online!”
Steal itRun [a small roster of real creators] pointing at the same sale in their own voice, tagged as partnership content, at the same time your house creative runs — the corroboration is the point, not a replacement for the brand's own ads.
No dedicated landing pageLP · Close
"Shop now" routes straight to the regular full-catalog page, not a Black-Friday-specific collection. The discount lives in cart and checkout logic plus a site-wide banner during the live window, not a bespoke landing page.
Steal itIf your discount applies broadly and automatically at checkout, you may not need [a dedicated sale landing page] at all — a strong ad plus the regular catalog can be enough when the offer itself is simple.
⚠ Check these before you copy it
- "Save up to 30% on eligible purchases" doesn't say what's excluded. "Eligible" is doing real work in that sentence. Before you copy a broad "up to X%" line, decide what's carved out and be ready to show it at checkout — vagueness here reads as evasive, not simple.
- The creator ads are genuinely labeled. All three run as tagged #glossierpartner branded content, not disguised as organic — that's the compliant version of what looks like organic UGC. An unlabeled version of the same idea is the line this crosses into a red flag.
- The staggered gift thresholds are dated, verifiable flights — Nov 27–29 for the Ultralip, Nov 28–Dec 1 for the Cloud Paint — not a vague "limited time" claim with no real schedule behind it.
